“And out of gloom and darkness, the eyes of the blind shall see.”
Isaiah offers a message of hope, reminding us of God’s ability to overcome darkness and bring sight to the blind. We should ask ourselves, “In what ways am I blind?”
Jesus once asked a blind man, “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asks us the same question. Like the man, we should respond, “Lord, I want to see!” But don’t stop there. “I want to see the ways in which I am blind. I want to see my giftedness and the giftedness of others. I want to see signs of the times and how I can respond. I want to see the beauty in enduring personal relationships that surround me. I want to see how I can model humility, simplicity, trust, zeal, and compassion. I want to see your face in the poor and marginalized and how I can best serve them. I want to see my gifts and talents and how I might use them to serve you and others. I want to see the joy and hope that comes from following you. Lord, I want to see what you want me to see.”
Lord, open the eyes of my heart to see all you want me to see. Thank you for the hope you bring to my life and the opportunity to share that hope with others. Allow me to see in the newborn Savior, your deep love, and live in joy that reflects such love. Amen.
