“The Lord will give you the bread you need and the water for which you thirst.” – Isiah 30:20
Jesus moved through villages, proclaiming the good news of His kingdom, and healing those who suffered. He described the crowds as “troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.” Jesus’ empathy was deep and he responded with mercy.
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few”. Jesus calls for workers to join Him in the mission of spreading the good news, inviting His disciples (and us) to take an active role in His work. “Through our ministry among the poor and the marginalized, we work to help others discover their uniqueness so they, too, may share the love of God with the world through their giftedness.” – Fundamental Principles
As a young XBSS educator, I was deeply affected by student retreats. They often revealed heavy crosses many children bear. Their transformation was due to God’s love shining through teachers and peers who affirmed each student’s value and worth.
Christ empowers us to be His hands and feet in the world, to step up and labor in the fields of our families, communities, and beyond. Whether through acts of kindness, sharing faith, or simply being present, we are called to serve in His image and likeness.
Take away from me the heart of stone, and give me a heart of flesh, a heart to love and adore You, a heart to delight in You, to follow and enjoy You, in Christ’s name. Amen (St. Ambrose of Milan)
