Dear Members of the Class of 2020,
On behalf of the Xaverian Brothers and the network of Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools, we extend our heart-felt congratulations upon your graduation! Your school administrators have spoken so admirably about the manner in which you have responded to this world-wide pandemic and its impact on your senior year. Theodore Ryken, the founder of the Xaverian Brothers, wrote that “nothing special is achieved without much labor, effort, and zeal.” Your accomplishments over the past four years, inclusive of those in this most unlikely of commencement seasons, are truly special!
As you go forward as a graduate of a Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School, use your influence for what is good and right. You have been given the intellectual and moral framework necessary for your lives. Therefore, be steadfast in your pursuit of justice for all, especially the poor and the marginalized of society. As you know well, your school’s mission calls all of us to be the best of what we are. It teaches us that the work of God is in our hands through “the common, ordinary, unspectacular flow of everyday life.” With Xaverian values as your guide you will experience much joy and take your place among the leaders of your time.
It is our hope and prayer that the relationships you have formed in your school community endure.
