“Glory to God in the Highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Lk 2:1-14
As a young girl growing up in a Catholic home, there was always a nativity set under our tree at Christmas. This was the very beginning of my spiritual journey. My loving parents believed in God and shared the gift of faith with their children early on. The nativity set in our home represented peace as it does for so many people.
In our daily lives, we all go through trials and tribulations. Just as the new mother and stepfather, Mary and Joseph experienced stress and anxiety over what was to come, we as parents, faculty, staff, and administrators stress over the success of our students. The holy family’s intimate journey of pain, suffering and uncertainty paved the way to peace for us all. The innocent baby, Jesus, laying in a manger, is our gift from our Father representing his presence in our lives.
“Jesus is the reason for the season.”
May the Christmas season bring joy to the world and the love of Christ carry you through tough times. May God bless your families, friends, colleagues, and students. May the Lord continue to bless us as we continue God’s work. Grant us God’s peace! Amen.
