“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” – Mt 21:22
Reflecting on this reading brings a lot to the surface for me because I too can relate to Elizabeth’s experience. I recall going through emotional currents that came in waves of anger, frustration, defeat and sadness. Through prayer, I realized that I lost sight of all the good that was in my life and the things that God had already blessed me with. When I began to shift my focus to gratitude for what I did have in my life and silently surrendered to God’s will, it confirmed for me that the Lord is always listening and paying attention to our prayers and our calls. God hears the loud cries, our muffled whimpers, the quiet whispers and the silent prayers that we utter wordlessly in our hearts. We must seek to be patient and faithful because what seems urgent to us may not fit the timeline that God has for us. We must Trust in Him without reservation or doubt. “Meanwhile the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along.”
Lord, thank you for all that you have done, all that you do, and all that you will do in our lives as we continue to give you glory, honor and praise. During this Advent and Christmas season keep us focused on your love, your words and your promise. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Chrit Jesus.
