Approximately 40 Brothers, Associates, St. Xavier High School Mission Leader and faculty members, Merton Contemplative members, former Brothers and spouses, friends, and the Ryken House support staff members joined with General Superior Brother Daniel Skala, General Councilor Brother Brian Davis, and Leadership Team member Brother Paul Murray in honoring the Kentucky and Virginia Xaverian Jubilarians. The gathering was held at Buck’s Restaurant in Old Louisville for a festive delicious meal and celebration. As the group began, special appreciation and thanks were expressed for the Ryken House support staff members who stayed in service until the facility closed and Brothers moved into Treyton Oak Towers. They served the community with great love and care.
During dessert, Brother Daniel Skala spoke of the growth and wellness of the Congregation presently growing with postulants, novices, and fruitful ministries. He then publicly thanked Brothers around the world celebrating jubilees, final vow commitments, and temporary vow commitments. He expressed thanks and appreciation to local Jubilarians for living out the ‘Fundamental Principles’ in their lives and multifaceted ministries to and with “the peoples of the world in these times.”
The evening concluded with a rousing chorus of Now Thank We All Our God for Brothers Peter Mahoney and Charles Warthen – 70 Years; and Brother Michael Foley – 60 Years. The group also acknowledged the late Brother Richard Angarola who would have celebrated his 61st anniversary; they were not able to celebrate locally then due to the pandemic.
Proficiat to one and all!
